a wonderful surprise

An unexpected snow is at the top of my favorite list! This snow was especially great due to the enormous cotton ball size snowflakes.
Knox responded with shock and speechlessness

while Kase looked on in awe

We decided to have a quick impromptu snowman day and invite the Fourshee's over to join us.

Kase raced around the house searching for all of the snowmen in his scavenger hunt and then decorated the table for lunch and craft time snowman style.

But first we rushed outside to play in the snow before it melted away or turned to rain.

Are my kids the only ones that hate snowsuits? I feel like I am dressing 2 wild animals getting all that garb on them.

So once the animals were tame I let them loose outside. Kase of course was mainly into throwing snowballs.

Knox just liked to run around and quickly decided he did not enjoy being Kases human target , so he headed back in .

A play day in the snow is not complete with out rosy red cheeks and a snotty nose.

He did however enjoy catching the snowflakes on his tongue.

Snowman sandwiches for lunch,

( I don't know what kase's new smile is about but I hope it is short lived)

hot chocolate to keep them warm

snow cream for dessert

With full tummies it was craft time

Knox denied eating the paint but his lip said otherwise.

The finished product!

A little more time to play in the snow

A few snowman books before naptime

Playing in the snow and enjoying a snowman day can be exhausting

Until the next snow day!

gobble gobble

Scotty was just commenting on how all of the big holidays are back to back like Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas and new years. We decided that these holidays should be spread out a little bit more so we could enjoy each one a little bit more before rushing onto the next one. (We will get right on this)

I love Christmas and am one of those people that probably decorate way too early.I still have mixed emotions over this! I feel so torn between Christmas and Thanksgiving. I hate skimping Thanksgiving. So Last year our Sunday School class decided to have a Thanksgiving meal together. I am very thankful that God has blessed us with so many great families, to worship with. This Thanksgiving meal has become a fun part of celebrating Thanksgiving.

The only rule we really have is no buffet! It may take a while but we eat family style and pass all of the dishes around our large table. For one night we know what it is like being apart of the Duggars and their 19 kids.

This class is only one of the many things my family has to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

swing your partner round & round

A potluck meal with friends and family with a side of square dancing was a great way to spend our Saturday night. This was our 13th year with Mr. Arnold calling our square dance at the farm. Of course we can't forget the very competitive nail driving contest. All in all a great night!

We started off the night dancing with the kids, some enjoyed it more than others.

the parents are always more enjoyable to watch than the kids

myles, jack & jaye

reese, addison & rorey

1 year olds to well whatever age love taking a swing at the nail driving contest. We begin with the kids, then the girls competing then the boys. For a champion the girl winner and the boy winner compete at the end.

The championship round came down to Leandra and Bro. Dave
Wendy and Lea were the final 2 girls but Lea showed her up

My grandmother joined in this year!

joey created a hay fort for the boys and they loved it!!!

It is kind of ironic that it was a square dance & I did not capture one picture of anyone square dancing. I was too busy dancing myself!

The square dance is now a fall tradition, and has become one of my favorites. I just need to practice driving nails til next year.
